That would be a huge story but I have no idea if any JWs work at the Kansas City Star.
I think one or two other people from JWD have e-mailed people at the Kansas City Star as well. Either our e-mails are getting eaten up by spam filters, ignored, or the reporters haven't gotten to them yet since they receive hundreds of e-mails a day. The last is most likely IMO.

If all else fails, I'll get ahold of someone from "The Pitch." The Pitch is an independent newspaper here in the KC area. They usually aren't afraid to handle sensitive stories and investigate things pretty well.
The only problem is, since they're independent and local, their articles usually don't gain nationwide exposure.

I haven't heard anything back.
I guess I'll move on to the editor of the Kansas City Star.
All I know is, the local qualified male JWs are going in to A-Team mode and plan to swoop in and rebuild the KH as fast as possible.

I can't believe you think it's cute to teach an innocent child to shun her uncle. She doesn't even comprehend what she is saying. She's just parroting.
Tell me, if when she gets older and does something that is a disfellowshipping offense, will you as her parents shun her as well? Do you realize the devastating effects shunning has on an individual?
I am saddened to see an innocent child being systematically brainwashed. There are some who consider a form of child abuse.

so last night, our cong asked us to pass a resolution.. what i noticed was, the elder reads the resoltion and then asks for everyone in favor, while he is looking down.. all of the dubs just raise their hands, and before even looking up, th elder says, ok, we'll approve this and send it off.. what a joke !!
why even bother.
just make the rules and tell them people, don't give them the illusion that they have a say in the matter.
It is indeed a big joke. These so called resolutions, who would actually vote against them?!
Can you imagine what would happen to the person that voted against anything?!

I suggested and urged him to dig a little and maybe write an article about the damage this org. does to people in light of the suicide.
I haven't heard from him. Crossing my fingers though!

i started studying jw 6 months ago & i do feel i'm growing.
i think at the rate things are going i'll b babtised in another 6 months.
Besides the UN connection, the WTBTS has actively engaged in the willful cover up of a rather large molestation problem. Check out http://www.silentlambs.org/
The WTBTS is very anti-education. These days, you almost have to have either a college degree, or a vocational program to secure a decent job. The JWs strongly discourage this. Recently, a letter read by COs to congregations stipulate removal of elders who are preceived to be encouraging higher education for their children or themselves.
I was born and raised in this "religion." It is very psychologically damaging, and many of us here have scars that will be with us forever.
If you have young children, or plan to have some, please reconsider joining the JWs. This is a religion for older people and it isn't very nurturing or beneficial for young people. In fact, children and teenagers are treated almost like enemies, made to feel inferior or not good enough, rife with sin, etc. I was miserable as a child in the JWs.
Right now, you're in the love bombing phase. You suddenly have found yourselves with friendly, smiling, helpful people.
Just remember, these people can, and will, turn 180 degrees on you over the slightest thing. Your "true christian brothers and sisters" will suddenly treat you coldly and regard you with suspicion if you're even "suspected" of going against anything and everything the GB and the WT spits out.
They want blind acceptance, blind faith, and total obedience. This is not a healthy way to live.

Then the even further unforgiveable offense is the witnesses will minimize the death of the suicide victim and maximize the importance of rebuilding the damned kingdom hall ! That is even more twisted than he explosion and suicide itself ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Some of the male JWs from my folks' cong. were already on the phone with each other about it (rebuilding) late Saturday night/Sunday morning.
That has been sickening to listen to. A man was so distraught that he thought he had no other choice but to take his own life, but the majority of their conversations were dealing with rebuilding.
There isn't a strong enough word to describe the disgust I feel with them right now.
